PostPress Studio 0.1.1
===============================

RUNNING IT
----------
Double-click "PostPress Studio.exe" in this folder.

Nothing is installed. Studio runs from wherever you unzip it, and you can
delete it by deleting this folder. Keep the folder together — the .exe needs
the files beside it.

Windows may say it does not recognise the publisher. That is because the
application is not yet code-signed, not because anything is wrong with it:
click "More info", then "Run anyway". Signing is on the way.

THE FIRST TIME
--------------
1. Studio asks you to set it up: a name and a password of at least eight
characters. That first person can add everybody else later, so make it
   whoever looks after the press.

The accounts live on this computer and nowhere else. There is no account
server behind Studio and no reset e-mail, which is also why it keeps
working when the internet does not. If you forget the only password,
delete the "operators.json" file named at the end of this file and set it
   up again.

2. Open "Materials..." and enter the stock you print on. Studio ships with
nothing on the shelf on purpose: a Quick Set is a name that exists on your
press and nowhere else, and a plausible-looking guess is how a job gets
   ripped on the wrong media.

For each material: what it is called, which shelf it belongs on, what it is
used to make, its ONYX Quick Set, how wide the roll is, the biggest page it
takes, and whether it has a liner. Everything else is optional.

3. If you want Quick Sets to be a list rather than something you type, fill in
the ONYX box at the top of that screen: the address of the machine running
ONYX Data Access (https://localhost:8443 if it is this one) and your ONYX
Sync vendor code. Studio only ever asks ONYX what presses and Quick Sets
exist — it cannot send ONYX a job.

4. In the right-hand column, set the Hot folder to the folder your RIP
watches. That is how a sheet reaches the press.

A JOB
-----
Material type, then material, then what you are making. Drop artwork on the
sheet, size it, arrange it, check it, send it. Ctrl-Z undoes anything.

WHERE YOUR SETTINGS LIVE
------------------------
%APPDATA%\PostPress Studio\

  materials.json the stock you entered
operators.json who may use this Studio
  settings.json the hot folder
onyx.json the ONYX address and vendor code

They survive replacing this folder with a newer one, so an update does not
cost you your materials. They are not in this kit — a fresh kit has nobody's
settings in it.

UPDATES
-------
Studio checks for a newer version on its own, and a supervisor installs it
from Studio updates... in the profile menu. It takes effect the next time
Studio starts. Studio only accepts a version we signed, and if a new version
will not start, it goes back to the last one that did by itself.

Studio updates... also says which version is running and which kit it came
from. This is the 0.1.1 kit.

TELLING US SOMETHING IS WRONG
-----------------------------
Say what you were doing, what you expected and what happened instead, and
which material and which press. If a job reached the hot folder, the file name
is in it.
